Aga Khan Musem has always been on our list of ‘must go to’ place for the past couple months. The simple, minimalist and peaceful atmosphere attracts many tourists every now and then but still manages to keep itself off from the busy roads, to provide an immersive experience for every visitors.

We weren’t able to actually have a tour of the museum at the time of the event, but if you look up online about this place, there are tons of good reviews and people who just loved their visit. And if you’re interested in learning and seeing Islamic art, Iranian art and Muslim Culture around the world, then you should also note this as one of your ‘must-go’ places.

Yico: If you read our blog from last winter you gonna know turtleneck is our favourite! I actually have a fun story to share with you all, particularly this piece. I first bought an exact same one in grey at Aritzia’s boxing day sale, but totally forgot it’s wool, so I just used my washing machine, and espcially put it under hot water … No doubt, it’s shrunk, and became a cropped sweater… How silly I was, so please make sure you either dry-clean any wool clothing, or hand wash it under cold water!!! Since the design is on point, I decided to buy another one, in a new colour though 🙂

Camel is just one of those colors that just refuses to go out of style. No matter what season or occasions you wear it for, it still manages to look relevant, not to mention, supersophisticated. Pairing with a pair of loose fitted wide pants certainly adds a character to the overall outfit, but the bright white color keeps it subtle and minimalistic.

Yu: As fall settles in, it’s time we sing the praises of the long, chunky turtlenecks. This high-neck staple will not only keep you warm but will also elegantly elongate your neck. A thick sweater just like the one I wore, practically goes with anything! Another two thrifted items in this week’s outfit: leather boots and suede cross-shoulder bag. Don’t underestimate the capacity this little bag can carry. I’ve fitted one disposable camera, one instant-camera, wallet, phone and a hand cream while traveling in the Czech Republic (click for the blog post!), in this tiny-looking thing.

Special thanks to our good friends who helped us with this time’s photo-shoot.

Thank you for reading, and have a wonderful week.

Another year of autumn is fast approaching, and surprisingly, we’ve been having a very warm weather. The leaves are yet to fall, and people are still walking around in their tanks and shorts.

We’ve had a long day of photoshoot and were passing by the Union station in downtown Toronto. The streets were dazzled as the sun set in alignment with the grid of the city streets. It did reminded us a little bit of the Manhattanhenge sunset in the Big Apple (you know they say Toronto is New York City of Canada!).

Yico: Mule shoes will continuously be a hot topic, and my choice for autumn is a pair of high heel mule in camel.  Forgive me, I should have put my nail polish on!!! Anyways, it’s still looking gorgeous.  My blouse is only $5, and surprised to see with such LOW price, the quality and design are so damn amazing! Now, take a close look at the details: gold buttons, electric blue cuffs, and a red “U” shaped pocket. I guess you can only find those deals in Taobao for brand new goods. I usually go for nude colors for bottom, and it’s my first time trying that bright red. All because we don’t feel like wearing boring clothes, and wanna have some fun ;))

Yu: There are countless numbers of thrifted turtle necks in my wardrobe, and this bright red one is certainly my favorite out of all. You probably won’t believe how many items I have are thrifted from Value Village, including the cross-body wallet and the pair of boots. Thrifting gems is definitely one of my skills that I gained through my love for fashion, but it is honestly not that difficult once you learn the tricks (hope that I could write a post about it one day!). But anyways, to complement with this bright red sweater, I decided to go a little more modest with the color coordination of other items.

Thank you for reading!

It’s been a long summer here in Toronto, and we wanted to soak up even last bits of the sun. There’s a spot in Highland Creek that not many may know of, with a great view of the lake and the Scarborough City and only takes about 15min from the UofT Scarborough Campus. Oh, almost forgot to mention, I came back to Toronto for a week to do my driving test (although I failed, you will see my G2 soon). Finally we reunited after 4 months, and really? It’s been 4 months already?! How fast… Before this trip, I made a to do (eat) list with different themes for our blog. Catching up with blog posts was not easy, but meeting up and chilling with friends for photo shooting was full of fun and laughs 😉

The “secret beach” was hidden behind a hiking trail, and you gotta have a good pair of stable shoes to go down the steep hill. Many youngsters have left behind their BBQ equipment, and empty water bottles but we could not care less – the view was beautiful.

Yico: A glance at our closets, we both found so many strip shirts, so an idea came up in my mind: wear them in different ways! Honestly, strips are so classic, yet will never out of trend. EVERYONE should at least get one piece to play with. You may notice that there are special designs for our cuffs/sleeves. For mine, the bottom part is similar to the formal shirts, and I can roll it up or leave it to add some fun to the overall outfit. Midi skirt is always a perfect match with a beach/ leisure look. It definitely eye-catching, and comfy for a long walk, and this orangish colour is pretty summer! Say YAS to a pair of chic sandals: I would wear them everyday just because they’re super soft & easy.

Yu: Lately, there’s a trend in brining back the 90’s styles, like the choker necklaces and distressed denim. But now it seems that the latest trend to be revived is the layered tank-over-shirt look. Suede is definitely a staple for fall looks, giving the overall outfit a soft and subtle feels.

Here you go my first outfit post in 2 months. Sorry for the delay, because I focused too much on coffee and brunch in the past weeks which was easy to record. The month of July is like a new adventure to me, as I had my first business trip to Shenzhen (a city near Hong Kong) for a private dinner to represent the brand that I am working for. Getting familiar with this company allows me to apply multi-tasking skills in this position. Even though my tasks doubled than the beginning, so far everything is still under control. Juggling from my day job to finishing my duties and trying out new places to run this blog. It is definitely stressful to compete with time.Proud of myself managing to publish this on time, I feel much more accomplishments than I was in school.

Taobao, one attractive reason for getting back to China. Similar to EBay, but with more features such as grocery store within 24 hours delivery, online stores for well-known brands, a platform for local designers to sell their works as well. To conclude Taobao in one sentence: there is nothing you cannot buy from it! Of course, I will take this advantage while I am in China, say NO to long waiting period and huge amount of shipping fee. From my previous experience, it’s unbelievable  to say that 99.99% of the time, the shipping costs (to overseas/Canada) more than the certain products.

Green & Red

Strawberry Tart

Thus, I’d like to share some items I bought from Taobao with you. I may do a Taobao Haul later if you guys are interested in this topic. In today’s look, my shoes, dress and necklace are all from Taobao. The material of this dress is linen, which gives an effortless look. Red can brighten skin tone, especially this wine color is very elegant. Simple cutting, with a split on the right side adds some fun to the dress. I matched it with creamy granny style heels because they are both minimalist style. What surprised me the most is the high quality of the shoes. Super soft,  at only $30, this well-made pair is a steal!

Last but not least, my Gucci bag is my birthday gift (My mom is da best!!!) I never thought I’d buy from Gucci because I was not a fan in its previous collections at all. However, Gucci changed, and it’s a huge turning point for the brand, meeting the new creative director- Alessandra Michele. He is an artist. I fell in love with Gucci, especially the Dionysus series. New collections are gorgeous. They paid more attention to the design, and added a great number of feminine elements. Rather than their traditional way, a full logo bag, Dionysus series only put symbolic tiger head on the bag and left the bag ‘free’. I chose this black suede bag because it can be worn in formal occasions but still be stylish for casual looks. However, I noticed that I have so many black bags… Hmm I guess it’s the time for a change! The size is perfect to put my wallet, phone, plus it even made areas for cards. The sliding chain strap can be worn multiple ways, changing between a shoulder and a top handle bag. You can pull the chain to the longest length to make it a cross-body bag, or do it like the way I did as a shoulder bag, and even hide the chain into the bag and wear it as a clutch bag.

Play with it, and love it!

First, let’s quickly start off with an announcement. Rhapsody Monday will be posting twice a month instead of every week from now on! As many of you may know already, Yico and I are living very far apart from each other (she’s on the other side of earth!), and both carrying different lifestyles and routines. It has become difficult to upload new contents that meets our expectations every week, and for that reason, twice a month seemed reasonable for us to manage. But this also means we each will have more time to devote into one post with better contents. Hooray!

Pink has always been my favourite color, and for some of you who know me, my wallet is pink, school binder is pink, and my 3DS is also pink… I happened to stumble upon at this pink wall located on King St. E in Toronto on Internet, and couldn’t help but decide to come here for a photoshoot.

This flower printed dress is an item I bought in Gap Kids. Their size ranges from XS to XXL and XL fits perfect for me. Many items in Gap Kids can be fit as an adult size, and unless you don’t tell your friend where you got it from, nobody can guess they are designed for kids. Plus, most of the times, they’re much cheaper than the adult clothing! Although, I gotta admit, it was pretty embarrassing to ask to try them on while you’re surrounded by kids and parents.

It’s pretty tough to find a bright and cheery place to do a photoshoot in a city with so much marble, concrete and grey. If you find any pastel photo walls around the city, let us know!
